It is hard to believe that we have been back in Nashville and in this house for two years. It is a wonderful little place to live and I mean LITTLE. Just about a month ago the house was 900 square feet. Our dining room was part of the kitchen and William was using the dining room as a bedroom which meant we had to sneak through William's room at night and in the morning to get to the kitchen. Today it has grown to about 1200 square feet!!!! We added on a new living area and last night we finished "moving in." Literally it was like moving without a change of address because our master bedroom and the bathroom were the only rooms that did not change. William moved into JPL's old room. JPL moved into the old living room. We moved the living room into the new room and we moved our table into the dining room. Here is a tour.
First stop the kitchen. We added a tile back splash behind the sink and stove, hung some curtains, and added additional cabinets where the table used to be (no picture bc I am still waiting on my countertop to arrive).

Next stop the dining room (which was William's room). I painted it a more neutral color and Steven hung a new light fixture. I also bought the two blue pieces from an estate sale and painted them (they were raw wood)... Thanks for the find Beverly!!! We will also use this as the office where Steven can study and I can write.

Now on to William's room (which was JPL's room). He still has the baby bird theme because he is still my baby. Take notice of the armoir. Steven and I saved this piece of furniture from the Link's shed. It belonged to Steven's maternal great grandmother Lewis (hince the name sake decorating the bottom panel). I painted and glazed and added a material backing inside. It is the perfect closet for a baby because the actual closet in this room is ALL MINE.

John Parker now has the largest room in the original house (this was our living room). He needs this space for all of his toys (trains-see the massive train track in the floor) and because in the future JPL and William could be sharing this room. The idea is to build a bunk on top of the existing daybed. He had a camping theme in his old bedroom but now we are going with a planes and trains theme since William will be moving in someday. Who do you think is the trains side of the room??? I found these $15 black bookshelves at Walmart and built a huge wall of shelves for his toys. Don't worry mom, they are bolted to the wall. I glued material to the back of the shelving to make it a little more interesting and to help with the blue and red color scheme. Since this room was the living room we had to provide closets which is the large white blocks which I hope to soon paint a rusty red. We have a lot more trains and planes accessories coming but that will have to wait for December (Birthdays for both boys AND Christmas).

And last but certainly not least, the new living room (which for the last year was a screen porch and before that, well, part of the driveway. This room is huge. We are so excited about it. There is enough room for us to lounge and for the kids to play. We could not be more happy with how this room and the rest of the house looks and functions. In two weeks we will have a new screen porch off the back.
Before, the house was COZY for sure, now it is both cozy and comfortable.
